The new ARTAS machine is not the NeoGraft, it is entirely automated and does not remove the grafts from the donor are using suction - that part is still done by hand. It also avoids the problem of having a physician who is less proficient at doing the FUE procedure inadvertently transecting or otherwise damaging the individual hair grafts. The ARTAS represents the current state of the art for automated FUE. Not every physician will find it necessary to use this machine, and not every patient will be the ideal candidate, but the ARTAS will likely expand the use of FUE procedures by decreasing the amount of physician training and skill needed to perform it correctly. Plus, it is just plain cool in what it can do! SW

Thank you for taking the time to write! This is a very common question so I am glad you asked. The procedure does not require Propecia in order to grow hair, but Propecia can help the native (existing) hair to grow better and slow your loss which is why I often recommend it as part of a long-term strategy.Rogaine can also help hair growth both for native hair and any grafts you might get with a procedure, but it is likewise optional.I hope that answers your question!Warm Regards, Dr. Sara

Dear Adam,

Thank you for taking the time to write! Typically, all the transplanted hairs shed in the first few weeks and permanent NEW Hairs do not begin sprouting until 12 weeks post transplant. You will see little cosmetic change until at least6 months since hair normally grows about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch per month.Looks like you healed well.

Matt,

This is a normal limbo time in the transplant experience.
