Alma TED™ Needle-Free Hair Loss Treatment Showing Visible Progress

Growth factors are substances your cells produce (especially during maturation and healing) to stimulate the proliferation of cells in tissue. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins like hair (your hair is 99% protein). These natural molecules are known to increase hair growth and are the basis for treating thinning hair with PRP and Exosomes. But since the scalp skin is a barrier to most topical therapies, how do we get growth factors to the target cells in the hair follicle?

Injections have been the common method for bypassing the scalp barrier with growth factors and amino acids. Micro-needling has also been tried with variable success. None of these are popular with patients due to the discomfort of needles in the scalp and the variability of the results. (We do not inject exosomes due to the FDA ban on unauthorized use outside of a medical study).1

A new device is now availabe to use ultrasound and pressure to get the growth factors to the hair cells in the scalp. The Alma TED system recently received FDA approval, and based on the promise of early studies, we will be offering these treatments as an alternative to PRP treatments.

How Growth Factors Support Hair Growth

Scientific research has shown that growth factors applied to the scalp can help stimulate hair follicles and support healthier hair growth cycles.

These biological signals influence follicle activity, encouraging weak or miniaturized follicles to produce stronger hair strands.

Growth factor therapy may be beneficial both:

  • On its own
  • In combination with other therapies

Some regenerative hair protocols combine growth factors with medications such as dutasteride or minoxidil, which can be delivered through injections as part of advanced treatments like the Combined Regenerative Technique (CRT).

However, one advantage of Alma TED is that it allows the delivery of growth-supporting ingredients without requiring injections into the scalp.

A Needle-Free Alternative to Injectable Hair Treatments

Many traditional regenerative hair treatments involve needles or injections. These may include:

  • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections
  • Dutasteride mesotherapy
  • Microneedling with topical medications

While these treatments can be effective, some patients prefer to avoid needles or may not tolerate injectable therapies well.

Alma TED provides a needle-free alternative that can still help support hair follicle health and encourage improved hair growth.

This makes the treatment particularly appealing for patients who:

  • Prefer non-invasive hair restoration options
  • Are uncomfortable with injections
  • Have difficulty taking certain medications
  • Are looking for early intervention for thinning hair

Early Results and Patient Experience

Dr. Wasserbauer has been encouraged by the progress seen in patients undergoing Alma TED treatments.

While individual results vary, many patients appreciate that the treatment is:

  • Comfortable
  • Quick
  • Non-surgical
  • Needle-free

Because the therapy focuses on improving the scalp environment and supporting follicle health, it can be used in many different stages of hair loss as part of a personalized treatment strategy.

Exploring Treatment Options for Hair Loss

Hair loss affects both men and women and can occur at different stages of life. The most effective treatment approach often depends on the type of hair loss, its severity, and the patient’s overall health and preferences.

Advances in hair restoration technology—including treatments like Alma TED—continue to expand the options available to patients seeking non-surgical solutions for hair thinning.
