FUE Hairline Restoration
This 46-year-old male patient presented with a long-standing history of progressive hair loss. Clinical evaluation demonstrated Norwood Class V androgenetic alopecia, with significant thinning across the frontal hairline and mid-scalp. The patient had suitable donor hair characteristics, including adequate density and acceptable hair caliber to achieve natural coverage. His gray hair color and wave were additional advantages.

After consultation, Dr. Sara Wasserbauer determined the patient was a good candidate for hair transplantation. On the day of surgery, a hairline was designed in collaboration with the patient to restore frontal density while maintaining a natural appearance consistent with the patient’s hair loss pattern and goals.
The patient underwent an FUE hair transplant procedure in which 2,841 individual follicular units were harvested, totaling 6,891 hairs. Grafts were meticulously prepared, cleaned, and sorted before being implanted using implanter pens to protect the follicles and ensure precise placement. The patient tolerated the procedure well.

For ongoing hair preservation, the patient was advised to continue both finasteride and topical minoxidil. At 12 months post-operatively, follow-up photos showed improved density in the frontal and mid-scalp regions with a natural, balanced result. The patient was thrilled with his outcome and new, more youthful appearance.
