The Year in Review!
Wow! 2024 Was A Year To Remember!
As the year came to a close, we did a quick review of all the events at California Hair Surgeon in 2024 – and it was quite a year! So much happened, in fact, that we thought we would put some of it into an “End of Year” news post for “Beginning of Year” reading. Here are a few updates on the newest therapies in hair loss treatments, hair surgery, and the future of our practice.
The year in numbers:
- 200+ surgeries, including a live-streamed eyelash transplant and hybrid (i.e. both FUE and FUT) hair transplant surgery
- Over 500,000 individual grafts were transplanted (about 2800 grafts per day!)
- 60+ Alma TED procedures
- 2288 Patients seen
- 364 SMP treatments given
Dr. Wasserbauer participates in a live surgery workshop for the ISHRS in Denver, CO
Highlights of 2024
Dr. Wasserbauer was one of only six people to be awarded a nearly $5000.00 Grant from ISHRS to study SMP Pigments
Dr Wasserbauer served as:
- Co-chair for the live surgery workshop in Denver, Colorado, and performed a live eyebrow transplant surgery
- Delegate for the American Medical Association (AMA)
- Board of Governors member, Continuing Medical Education and Ethics Committee for International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS)
- Virtual Oral Exam Committee Chair for the American Board for Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS)
In 2024 we welcomed our new nurse Doris Jung-Flores and celebrated with $12 Botox!
Live Patient viewing at the ISHRS World Congress in Denver, Colorado, featured three of our patients! One is for whole-head SMP with scar reconstruction, and the other is for rare sibling-to-sibling (non-twin!) hair transplants.
California Hair Surgeon kept its cutting edge with some New Equipment:

- TrichoLAB follicle visualizing software – you need to see this!
- 3D printed graft trays (our invention!)
- Alma TED - is a NEW FDA-approved device that uses ultrasound and pressure to get the growth factors to the hair cells in the scalp. The Alma TED system is a comfortable alternative we will be offering for PRP and Exosome treatments.

Starting a Fellowship training program and Preceptorship for doctors around the world to train with California Hair Surgeon
XYON new formulation of topical minoxidil and finasteride was made primarily at the request of Dr. Wasserbauer and California Hair Surgeon
Restarting tissue banking in February (and - SHHHH! - possibly even providing patients for the cell multiplication treatments!)
